Choose the Right Golf Course

Posted by Kathy Austin | Golf Course | Tuesday 27 October 2009 4:24 am

Perhaps the first thing you should ask yourself is how much of a challenge you want in your golf game. There are courses that feature straight and long fairways with a few hazards scattered here and there. These are favored by golfers who like to hit their shots long and hard down the fairway. Meanwhile, other golfers prefer more of a challenge.

These are the golfers who love playing in courses with tight fairways. These courses have plenty of water hazards and sand traps requiring precise shots instead of powerful drives. Which among these two golf courses do you prefer? Answer this question and your list will be significantly narrowed.

The next step is in deciding whether you want to play in a course near or far from home. By centering your choices to a select location, you will be narrowing your choices even more. Then, you should think about golf club amenities. Do you want to take a shower right after your game? Do you want to hire a caddy or rent a golf cart?

And finally, we get to the price. How much are you willing to pay for green fees? Do you have a golf card which can get you discounts to certain golf courses? Of course, there are more questions you need to answer. You need to identify whether you want to play in an overcrowded golf course or if you enjoy playing in privacy, and so on.

Once you have answered these questions, you would have chosen the golf courses that are right for you.
