Backyard Landscape Design Features

Monday, November 1st, 2010

There are some backyard landscape design ideas that you can collect and save from many different magazines or on-line services. You want your own unique landscape design to reflect your specific life style and so it does not like other people’s designs.

You do not want to make the backyard landscaping ideas a difficult project. There are several designs that are actually low maintenance. There are also options that will award you some privacy for relaxing, reading a book, or for meditating. If you already have a swimming pool it is best to erect a fence around it for the safety of your family and the safety of others. You can fence off another portion of the backyard for playing yard games. There are several types of landscape decorations that can be installed, plants to be planted for watching birds, and butterfly gardens. Your backyard landscape does not have to be just one design; you can separate your yard into designs for particular activities.

You do not want your ideas to resemble your neighbors. You want to have a one of a kind place to reflect your way of living and also to be low maintenance. You want to be able to go on vacation and know that your backyard is taking care of itself. If your yard is huge but you want something low maintenance plant only a small patch of grass. You can place pavers or pebbles to create pathways or walkways around the yard. You can create an area of the yard for a conversation pit by placing outdoor carpeting and some comfortable patio furniture. Flowers and herbs can be grown in raised beds or containers; this adds a little color to the backyard. These containers can be rotated around the backyard for sunshine needs or to add color to another part of the yard.

If you and your family want to have more privacy you do not necessarily have to have a fence built. There are other ways to create a ‘fence’ such as decorative trees that are at least 7 feet tall or higher, tall hedges, creative lattice work that is covered with a favorite vine or two. However, regular fencing should be around a pool for safety and some fencing can be made to give you privacy while swimming and sunning. Regular fencing should also be surrounding the game or sports areas not only for the safety of those not involved in the game or sports but for the safety of your garden.

Your natural fencing of hedges or bushes can be grown wherever or however you want in order to create a reading or meditating area. These areas can also have flowers planted on the inner side of the bushes to help one relax. Backyard decorations such as birdbaths, fountains, and gazing balls can be added to any area of the backyard. A comfortable chair or bench is good for meditation or reading and a bistro table and chairs can be for lunch or an afternoon snack.
